Unity Is The Mantra Of The Church Today - 1746 Words

Unity has become the mantra of the church today. This can be seen in the downplaying of the importance of doctrine which is said to â€Å"divide† Christians from one another. Often times unity is pushed for with a complete abandonment of any sense of discernment claiming that love for all brothers ought to be the main concern of the church. More fundamentalist circles go too far the other direction by creating a legalistic set of rules in by which they judge the worthiness of other to fellowship with themselves. Both mindsets are in error as we are not to seek unity on the basis of â€Å"brotherly love† or â€Å"standards for fellowship† but Christians are to seek and find unity in Christ and in no one else. Proximity to Christ determines what proximity can be had between Christians. As in any examination a defining of terms is necessary for any meaningful look into a matter. The difficultly with the term â€Å"fellowship† is not so much one of compl exity as it is one of departure from a biblical definition by large portions of the church today. 2 Timothy 1:13 contains an exhortation of Paul to Timothy to â€Å"Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus† (KJV). Tourism can be important in helping to maintain and develop traditional craft skills, though there is also the risk that increased demand leads to a loss of authenticity in terms of process and product. The discussion of different forms also reflects that heritage, and conservation, can occur at different spatial scales, including that of a single artifact, a single building, a streetscape, an area, an entire historic town/city, a region/landscape, and even up to national and international scales. There are several reasons for public and private sector involvement in cultural heritage management (CHM), including: †¢ The recognition that heritage resources can play an important role in community continuity, renewal, and development. †¢ The increased quality of life associated with heritage resources.
